Iran Is Among The Top Ten In The World In The Space Field

During a review of the most important space achievements for the period from 2023 to 2025, Salaré revealed the start of the first phase of the space base in Chabahar, noting that the first experimental launch from the base will take place during the current year.

He explained that the construction and operation of the basic infrastructure of the base is in its final stage, and that the published pictures show tangible progress in construction work.

Regarding the space exploration and space life sciences sector, Salaré pointed out the importance of this growing field within the global space economy, pointing out that Iran began the first space launch experiments in the late 1980s, and in 2023 it was able to confirm the ability of its missiles carrying solid-fuel satellites by launching the “Thuraya” satellite. The Qased and Qaim 100 missiles also recorded notable successes during the same year.

The head of the organization stressed that stabilizing the performance of the Simorgh missile was one of the most important achievements, as it led to the successful placement of three satellites into orbit. He added that the period from 2023 to 2025 witnessed the unveiling of satellites such as “Zafar 2” and “Nahid 2”, in addition to the first orbital transfer unit within “System 1”, which allows access to high-altitude orbits.

Salare pointed out that the launch of the second “Qaim 100” missile in September 2024 was successful, and the “Chamran 1” research satellite was placed to test cold gas engines, and the satellite is still continuing orbital experiments.

2024 also witnessed the first official participation of the Iranian private sector in the space field, with the launch of two satellites, “Kawsar 1” and “Hodhud,” from Russia. This was followed by a successful test of the “Simorgh” missile in December 2024 to insert a 300-kilogram mass into low Earth orbit.

Salaré announced the unveiling of the high-altitude communications satellite “NOOC” and new versions of “Pars 1” and “Pars 2,” stressing that additional versions of them are under development and launch. The infrastructure for monitoring the optical system and control stations in Salmas and Chinaran has also been developed, and the Chabahar base is expected to reach 93% of its readiness by September 2025, with the first test launch during this year.

Within the framework of international cooperation, Salaré reported that in 2025, Iran will join the countries participating in China’s space program to conduct a joint research mission to the moon, in addition to placing life sciences capsules and new observation satellites in their final stages, with plans to launch them early next January.

He concluded by saying: “The Iranian space industry has become one of the 10 to 11 powers that possess independent space capabilities, and with a focus on improving the accuracy of satellites and raising the capabilities of carrier missiles, we aim to achieve a higher position among the global space powers.”
