Why You Should Always Pack Contact Lens Cases In Your Luggage… Even If You Don’t Wear Them

We all know the feeling of standing in tedious airport security lines, frantically rummaging through bags and scrambling to pour liquids into fiddly 100ml containers.

often than not, many of our toiletry essentials end up in the trash after being found to be ever so slightly over the limit.

But there may be a way to save yourself the security line headache – whether jetting off on a family vacation or business trip.

The latest ingenious – and inexpensive – hack is being hailed all over the internet as a game changer in transforming packing for short trips.

Travelers are ditching expensive travel sized bottles, environmentally damaging plastic bags and time consuming decanting all for a humble contact lens case.

Tiny, TSA compliant and spill proof, the refillable contact solution cases are designed to hold between five and 10ml of liquid either side.

This means that frequent flyers can fit a suitable amount of anything from moisturizer and foundation to medication and vitamins.

For those who already wear contacts, there are probably an excessive amount laying around at home begging to be repurposed.

And, for those unburdened by poor eyesight, you can simply grab a couple of cases online or at your local chemists for just a couple of bucks.

Getting through the TSA lines at airports can take anywhere from 30 minutes up to two hours at peak times, according to recent Quora responses.

The nifty hack is being shared after the Transportation Security Administration made a massive upgrade to its TSA PreCheck program in 15 airports across America, which will make the security process much faster.

TSA PreCheck is a paid service for ‘low-risk travelers’ that offers ‘a smoother experience at the airport security checkpoint,’ per its website.

Once you’re approved, it allows you to use a separate security line at the airport that’s usually much shorter. It also comes with a slew of perks like not having to remove belts or light jackets and keeping laptops and liquids in carry-on bags.

Now, the administration has announced that it has added a new feature in certain airports for travelers with PreCheck that will speed up the process even more.

Before, those with PreCheck had to pull up their boarding pass and show that it had the PreCheck indicator on it before entering the line.

But now, in select airports, travelers with PreCheck won’t have to show anything except for their face, making for a seamless and speedy experience.

Called TSA PreCheck Touchless ID, it’s designed to ‘enhance the security screening process.’

Elsewhere, the TSA recently issued a warning to travelers about foods that could be confiscated before getting on board a flight.

The official travel administration recently shared a post to X (formerly Twitter) about which popular snack was allowed through security.

‘Here’s a breakfast travel tip: We don’t suggest leaving this delicious pastry behind,’ it read.

‘Donuts are good to go in carry-on or checked bags, no matter what toppings you choose. How many you decide to bring is up to you.’

It paired the tweet with a picture of Homer Simpson eating a donut in the airport.

Along with the post, the TSA also included a link to all the rules about taking foods and drinks on board.

Each item was listed alongside the corresponding guidelines as well as whether they were allowed in a carry-on or checked baggage.

It addressed a whole host of items – from alcohol and pizza to breast milk and live lobster.
