Glen Powell’s Smash Kitchen Launches Cooking Oils

Glen Powell’s Smash Kitchen Launches Cooking Oils
Whether it’s through premium spirits that you sip on special occasions or limited-edition collaborations with established brands, you may have briefly come across celebrity endeavors in the food world before. But for one star you’re almost certainly familiar with, expanding into the food space is more about becoming a regular part of home cooks’ daily cooking routines.
When Glen Powell launched Smash Kitchen this April, he introduced a line of condiments — including organic yellow mustard and organic hot honey ketchup — that reflect the brand’s ethos: to provide products made with organic ingredients, free of unnecessary additives and artificial ingredients, and sold at an accessible price.
From the beginning, the Chad Powers and The Running Man star made it clear that Smash Kitchen’s long-term goal was to become a staple in pantries nationwide, and now the brand is taking its next step toward that goal. Today, Smash Kitchen announced plans to launch its own line of cooking oils and sprays, offering a selection of oils that will cover just about every cooking scenario you’ll encounter.
Powell’s brand will debut a collection of various cooking oils and sprays, including 100% Pure Avocado Oil, Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil (available in two varieties: organic and organic robust olive oil), and cooking sprays made with avocado oil, organic olive oil, or organic coconut oil.
All of the oils are single-sourced, and the olive oils are harvested early and cold-pressed to ensure a fresh flavor profile. Just like with Smash Kitchen’s previous condiment line, a primary focus for the cooking oils is a streamlined ingredient list with no fillers, additives, or chemical propellants. (The latter is a notable distinction for oil-based cooking sprays, which often contain added emulsifiers.)
Smash Kitchen Oils Collection:
Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil:
- 16.9 oz ($8.97) and 33.8 oz ($13.97)
Organic Robust Extra Virgin Olive Oil:
- 16.9 oz ($8.97) and 33.8 oz ($13.97)
100% Pure Avocado Oil:
- 16.9 oz ($10.97) and 25.4 oz ($15.97)
Cooking Sprays (4.7 oz):
- 100% Pure Avocado ($5.47)
- Organic Olive Oil ($4.97)
- Organic Coconut Oil ($5.97)
The three oils chosen by the brand, along with the two styles of olive oil, are intended to cater to a wide range of home cooks’ needs. Powell tells Food & Wine that, “I think it really comes down to function and taste. I like putting coconut oil on things because I love coconut, and I like the taste of it….
“And then if you’re cooking meat or steaks or something like that, the smoke point of avocado oil is different. If you’re trying to sear things, avocado oil is a much more dynamic oil that doesn’t change the taste or integrity of the meat.”
(If you want an insider tip on how to use the coconut oil spray, Powell notes that “I love putting coconut oil on sweet potato fries because it adds this different dynamic, and people go wild for it.”)

The two olive oils are also intended to offer versatility. While the straightforward, classic Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil is the kind of ingredient you’ll use for sautéing, tossing with pasta, and other common cooking tasks, the Robust Extra Virgin Organic Olive Oil is more of a finishing oil. Powell explains that the latter is something he’d drizzle on salads or dunk bread into, saying, “It just has a different boldness to it. It’s got a little bit of a kick.”
Since first launching Smash Kitchen with co-founders and entrepreneurs Sameer Mehta and Sean Kane, Powell has made it clear that becoming a recognizable part of consumer kitchens is the brand’s end game, so it’s no surprise that this latest product launch targets some of the most common, versatile cooking oils you might need.
As the Texas-bornstar tells Food & Wine, “The idea is taking over the pantry and giving people bang for their buck and something that they want to buy over and over and over again.”
Smash Kitchen’s new lineup of cooking oils will be available at Walmart stores nationwide and on Walmart.com beginning on October 20.
